What functionality is missing? What is unsatisfying with the current situation?

When within the public viewing of your own world there is a search bar at the top left, if there are multiple results then there are a few options you have :

  1. Hit enter (takes you to the first/closest result)
  2. Use your mouse to select a result
  3. use the arrow keys to go down and select a result

Using arrow keys for the search engine feels quite awkward to use given that it auto selects a result if you don't put in any input for a fraction of a second. I remember in the past it used to function a bit differently (and better imo), as such, I wanted to suggest to allow users to for example, turn off the automatic selection when using the arrow keys, or to simply increase the delay.

How does this feature request address the current situation?

It nullifies any awkwardness or clunky feeling regarding the current system by allowing the author to modify the selection to what best suits their audience.

What are other uses for this feature request?

While niche, I suppose it would allow for authors to better experiment with the search engine and see exactly what results would appear from fragmented entries (aka putting a few letters in instead of a whole word).

Presentation search is very unfriendly right now. It shunts you off to an article whether you want it to or not (even if you press Escape), and can no longer get to the search results page for help when you don't remember the name of the article you want.   I'm not sure we'll get search improvements until the presentation update, but I'd love a "see all results"-style page and better ability to cancel out of a started search.
