When mankind began colonizing other planets, they thought they were prepared for anything. They had organized networks for mutual support, air bubbles and terraforming processes, and even artificial gravity for the ships. When they experienced the first Cosmic Pulse, however, they soon came to realize that they were not just experiencing the dawn of a new era of interstellar exploration, but the dawn of a new era for humanity as a whole. The Era of the Suprasapients had begun.
  Even so, well into this new golden age of exploration and human development, not all is as it should be in the world. Strife, corruption and suffering continues to nip at humanity's heels. As humankind continues to grapple with its problems, creating new tools to help keep the peace , one individual seeks to escape a life of suffering and oppression. The young Suprasapient Tem casts away the name of his foster parents and stows away on a space vessel. On the other end of his travels, he hopes to find a better life for himself, and an escape from the ghosts of his past. That however, first means he has to survive, with less than a meter between him and the empty void...
