Permanent Polymorph

Unique

The caster can turn any living creature they can touch into any other animal that the caster understands. When first learned, the caster can only transform living creatures that are small and simple (ex. A worm into a butterfly). The more complex, intelligent, and large creatures require more mastery of the skill. The “distance possible” between the original and target creatures requires more mastery. For example, one must have fully mastered the spell to turn a gecko into a dragon.

The caster also has a choice to weave in or exclude intelligence. If for example, the caster wanted to turn their enemy into a harmless creature, they may pick a talking tree but opt to keep the intelligence of the original individual. The change is permanent, and cannot be undone except by another able bodied person who has this ability. Memories can be lost when downgrading a creature to a lower intelligence (and never regained).

Because of the enormous power of the spell, it requires copious amounts of energy. The caster’s body will feel as if they’ve suddenly worked in a field for 4 hours. This means that multiple casts in a row can quite literally knock the caster unconscious, depending on the complexity of the conversion.
